1999 – Oktoberfest 1999 Review

In October, 1999, the Six Flags Association of Former Employees sponsored a booth at this year’s Oktoberfest, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.  Karen Trammell was this year’s Oktoberfest Coordinator.

We hosted the ‘Lunker Plunker Game, in which kids shoot ping pong balls from a ‘Lunker Plunker, into a bucket. This is a traditional Speelunker game, dating back several hundred years. Although the original Plunkers were made of reeds and straw, ours are plastic.  Jim & Patty Brothers again loaned us their original Speelunker to highlight the booth.

This year’s Oktoberfest was a major event. It was the THIRTIETH (30th) year of the Oktoberfest and the 150 birthday of Fort Worth.

We had approximately 583 players and earned $291.50. In addition we earned $51.25 in advance ticket sales. These funds are going to be used to our charitable fund.

Several new individuals signed up to join the group.  Also numerous people took the forms and information sheets to fill in later or to give to other family members that worked in the park. We visited with a lot of “X”s and had a good time.
